Man arrested following burglary at Ballymena jeweller

A man has been arrested following a burglary at a jewellery shop in Ballymena this afternoon (Saturday).

Police say shortly after 1:10pm, it was reported that two men entered a jewellers in the Church Street area.


The men then reportedly made off from the scene with a quantity of jewellery from the shop. One man was detained shortly after the incident.

Inspector Reid said an 18-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of theft. He remains in police custody.

“The second man is described as being 6ft in height and he was wearing a red and black jacket, black tracksuit bottoms with white stripes and a white surgical mask covering over his face.

“He is believed to have made off towards the Broadway Avenue area following the incident,” he said.
