A man in his 20s sustained a gun shot wound to the stomach as well as facial injuries, following in incident at New Lodge Road in north Belfast in the early hours of this morning, (Saturday, September 15).
The injured man, who is presently ‘critical but stable’ was treated at the scene by the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service and then taken to hospital.
Detective Sergeant Corrigan said when they arrived at New Lodge Road, following a report of a shot being fired, they found the injured man.
“We are currently working to establish the exact circumstances of this incident and would appeal to anyone who was in this area, around 1.30am and saw what happened, to get in touch with us on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference number 94 of 15/9/18,” he said.
The man is currently being treated in hospital for his injuries. His condition is described as critical but stable.
