It was supposed to be the fairytale in New York but it turned into an engagement nightmare when a mystery man dropped a ring down in a grate in Times Square during his proposal.
The man can be seen lying down in a security video, trying to fish the ring out, unsuccessfully.
After NYPD officers watched the footage, they were able to rescue the ring and get it cleaned up for the mystery couple. Authorities tweeted the surveillance video in a bid to find the couple over the weekend.
The New York Police Department confirmed today (Sunday) that it had found the couple – named as John and Daniella from England.
“The couple have left the United States. We are making arrangements for them to get the ring back,” NYPD Sergeant Jessica McRorie told ABC News.
