Men flee with cash and jewellery as couple in 80s arrive home to Glengormley

Three men are reported to have fled from a house with cash and jewellery just as an elderly couple in their eighties arrived back to their home at Mountainvale Road in Glengormley.

Detectives in Antrim are investigating this burglary which occurred at Mountainvale Road at approximately 7pm last night (Saturday, December 1). A laptop and a tablet were also taken.

Detective Sergeant Coulter said he believes the men made off from the scene in a vehicle.

“Our enquiries into this burglary are ongoing and I would ask anyone who was in the area of Mountainvale Road and who may have noticed any suspicious individuals or cars in the area to contact detectives at Antrim on 101 and quote the reference number 1092 01/12/18.

“Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime,” he added.

Information can also be provided anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.

Police say in the run up to Christmas, burglars are very active, so ensure that when leaving the house all doors and windows are locked, alarms set, and a light left on at night.
