Young people are persistently organising fights in West Belfast, despite police warnings to the contrary.
Police said last night that they were aware that youths were intent on being involved in anti-social behaviour in Divis, Twinbrook or Poleglass, despite the weather.
They said they would be patrolling these areas. Fights, organised usually through social media, have been a persistent problem.
“What are your plans for tonight? Heading out to Divis, Twinbrook or Poleglass for an organised fight? Followed by being arrested, going to custody and then taken to court?
“Once again, we will be out on patrol, checking these areas and dealing with anyone causing trouble or a nuisance robustly. If you are one of these young people thinking about heading out, have a wee think about the ‘future you’. Your career prospects, your travel plans. Because they can all disappear with criminal records,” said a police spokesperson.
And they’re issuing warning to parents to be wary of where their children are at all times.
“Parents, once again, please be sure you know where your kids are, who they are with, and what their plans are. It’s cold, wet and dark out and we don’t want to have to knock your door to tell you your child has been arrested or injured,” added the spokesperson.
