A man in his 40s sustained facial injuries after being hit on the head by two men armed with baseball bats and knives in east Belfast.
The men damaged a TV set during the aggravated burglary at Moorgate Street.
Detectives are appealing for information following the incident which happened in the early hours of this morning (Tuesday 12 May).
Detective Sergeant Corrigan said shortly before 1am, it was reported that two men wearing dark clothes with their faces covered gained entry to a house in the area.
The male occupant was assaulted, sustaining cuts to his face and is believed to have been struck on the head, said police. The injuries are not believed to be serious.
“Enquiries are continuing and we would appeal to anyone who witnessed anything suspicious in the area between 10pm on Monday 11 May and 00:50am on Tuesday 12 May, to contact detectives on 101 quoting reference number 78 12/05/20. Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime,” added Detective Sergeant Corrigan.
