A 37-year-old man is in a critical condition after being assaulted in his flat in the Great Victoria Street area of Belfast.
The incident happened on Saturday (August 3) at around 6am.
He was taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries, and police say his condition is described as critical but stable.
Detectives in Belfast are appealing for information following the report of the assault.
Detective Inspector Tom Phillips is asking for anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward.
“We are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the assault, or who may have information which can assist with the investigation to contact detectives in Belfast on 101 quoting reference number 496 of 03/08/19,” he added.
Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.
