A man was assaulted in his home in Larne by up to six masked men who were armed with bats and iron bars.
They forced entry to the flat in the Ballycraigy Ring area of the town and assaulted the man. He escaped from the flat by jumping from an upstairs window, sustaining a suspected broken leg as a result. A car parked outside the property was also extensively damaged.
Detectives are investigating the report of the aggravated burglary which occurred on Saturday (March 16) at around 7:30pm.
Detective Sergeant Leighanne Robinson said up to six masked men, armed with bats and iron bars, forced entry to the flat and assaulted the male occupant.
A 34-year-old man has since been arrested in connection with the incident and remains in custody assisting police with their enquiries.
“I would appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident and who may have information which could assist us with our enquiries to contact detectives in Larne on 101 quoting reference number 1178 16/03/19.
“Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime,” added the Detective Sergeant.
