Man treated in Belfast hospital for similar symptoms to China’s coronavirus

A man is in isolation in the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast being treated for symptoms similar to coronavirus, an infection which has so far claimed the lives of over 15 people in China.

According to the BBC, the man recently travelled to Northern Ireland from Wuhan.

The Belfast Health Trust has not commented on the case, however the treatment is understood to be a precautionary measure.

The virus is thought to have spread to humans from bat soup from an animal market in Wuhan.

The city of 11 million people is a major transport hub, which is a challenge for stopping the spread of the coronavirus.

The spread has been more difficult to contain due to the millions travelling for Chinese New Year.
