A man armed with a knife escaped with cash and jewellery after threatening two women in their 20s when he entered a house in Cadogan Street in Belfast.
The incident happened around 10:15pm last night (Tuesday).
Detectives are appealing for information following the aggravated burglary.
Detective Sergeant Gardiner said the two women were in an upstairs room in the house when an unknown man entered downstairs armed with a knife.
“He made his way upstairs and threatened the two females before leaving the room with a sum of money.
“As the man made his way out of the property, he was approached by a man and woman who entered the house. The man armed with the knife threatened the male and the female, demanding money from them,” said the Detective Sergeant.
The man then made off towards the Ormeau Embankment area with money and jewellery following the incident.
The man is described as being 5ft 6″ in height and of medium build. He was wearing a dark tracksuit with a grey t-shirt underneath, a dark hat and he spoke with a local accent.
“Enquiries are continuing and we would appeal to anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area to contact detectives on 101, quoting reference number 1533 14/5/19. Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime,” added the Detective Sergeant.
