Marks and Spencer has come under fire for selling a school uniform hijab for girls as young as three.
Customers have vowed to boycott the chain after it emerge that the religious headwear is designed for young children. It’s on sale for just £6 in its ‘School Essentials’ section.
The company’s social media pages have been swamped with customers saying they will no longer buy from Mark and Spencer.
In a statement, M&S said: We provide bespoke uniforms for 250 schools across the country and they tell us which items they need as part of their school uniform list. For a number of schools this year, they requested the option of the hijab.
.@marksandspencer facilitates medievalism by selling children’s hijabs in the school-wear category. It’s their right to choose profit over values. But it’s our right to shame them for doing so. Little girls are told it is “immodest” to show their hair. And blessed be the fruit pic.twitter.com/I5d7csTsiL

. @marksandspencer now proposes hijab in their schoolwear category for girls as young as 3 years old! M&S chose to agree with the idea that small girls can be sexually immodest. M&S chose to capitalize on oppression. Let’s now all together chose to shame and boycott M&S! pic.twitter.com/DcPWh1jHjm

Ring the death knell for @marksandspencer…I've boycotted them before for Xmas stores in the summer, but this takes it to a whole new level of obscene. Not even Saudi Arabia has girls in a #hijab before 9 years old. UK M&S are selling them for toddlers… #BoycottMarksAndSpencer pic.twitter.com/FFnKAamF46

Marks and Spencer selling children's hijabs in the UK. The West is starting to beat India in appeasement.
