Two men, one man armed with a small sledge hammer escaped with a sum of money from a petrol station at York Street, Belfast last night (Thursday, October 11).
They jumped over the counter and opened a till during the incident which happened just before 8pm.
One female staff member was pushed to the ground and threatened by the man armed with the sledgehammer. Another female member of staff was left badly shaken as a result of the incident. Enquiries are ongoing.
Detectives are appealing for information following the armed robbery.
The two men made off on foot towards the New Lodge.
They are described as being in their mid-twenties, of medium build and they were wearing scarves around their faces.
Detective Sergeant Maguire is appealing to anyone with any information to contact detectives on 101 quoting reference number 1249 11/10/18.
