An east Belfast woman who went missing on Wednesday has been found alive in the Cavehill area following a three-day search operation.
The name of the woman has not been released, but it is understood to be Lisa Faulkner who is 41.
Over 30 volunteers from the Community Rescue Service (CRS) worked alongside police with the guidance of PSNI air support yesterday evening (Saturday).
Regional Commander Sean McCarry said after what was a prolonged search covering three days, a heat signature was located by Air Support in a remote area of the Cavehill.
He said a specialist team was tasked to the location where the missing woman was found. He said she was injured and required hospital treatment.
“The Coastguard Helicopter from Prestwick was requested through the Coastguard Coordination Centre at Bangor. A difficult recovery was carried out with their assistance and the person taken to safety.
“I would take this opportunity to thank all those involved including our CRS teams, the police and the Coastguard as it was this multi-agency response that ensured the safety of everyone involved.
“We all wish a speedy recovery to the injured person,” added Regional Commander Sean McCarry.
The operation lasted about four hours in windy conditions.
A PSNI spokesman said Lisa Faulkner had been found safe.
“Police are no longer looking for missing person Lisa Faulkner – she has been found and is safe. Thank you for your assistance,” a spokesperson said.
