The motorist who died following a collision between a car and a tanker lorry on Glenshane Road, between Dungiven and Maghera this morning (Monday) was Conor Devine.
Conor was 30, and he was from Park, County Londonderry.
The collision was reported at 5:20am.
Conor was the driver of the silver Volvo car.
Emergency services attended the scene where Conor was pronounced dead.
The driver of the tanker lorry was not seriously injured but he was taken to hospital.
Inspector Colin Shaw is appealing for witnesses.
Anyone who witnessed the collision, or who may have captured it on their dash cam or who witnessed the collision and has not yet spoken to police, is asked to call officers on 101, quoting reference 233 of 09/08/21.
