Marks and Spencer has come under fire for its Porn Star Martini drink.

It will now be re-named following complaints made by the public.

Despite its popularity, the Independent Complaints Panel for Portman Group – a trade group for alcohol producers in the UK – investigated the concerns expressed by a member of the public.

The public had raised issues about the use of the term ‘Porn Star’ in the name of the canned cocktail.

The concerns were to do with associating the alcoholic drink to sexual success.

The complaint has been upheld, and Marks and Spencers will now re-name the Porn Star Martini as ‘Passion Star Martini.’

Drinks industry body The Portman Group confirmed M&S would have to rebrand the drink.

It’s believed the original name would ‘open the floodgates’ to more suggestively-titled cocktails.

M&S was accused of ‘normalising porn’ when it launched the fruit-based vodka mix last September, costing £2.25 per can.

Mums on Mumsnet said they did not want to have to explain what a porn star is to their children while shopping at M&S.
