A new 3G training pitch is to be built at Monkstown in Co Antrim.
Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council’s investment will transform the existing grass training pitch to a 3G synthetic surface with floodlights and improved access.
Work is planned to begin in January 2023 and expected to be completed by summer of that year.
This latest 3G pitch project is part of a significant council investment in 3G pitches in the area with a full size 3G pitch planned for Rathcoole.
The 3G surface will significantly improve the playability of the pitch, meeting the needs of a range of local clubs.
Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey, Councillor Billy Webb said he was delighted that the council is committed to investing in grassroots sports and supporting local clubs as they make such a valuable contribution to the community.
