A beautician who blinded a woman in a hammer attack in Belfast has been sentenced to eight years in prison.
Samantha Goldring, who’s 36 and from Tynan Drive in Newtownabbey, was found guilty of causing grievous bodily harm with intent by a jury.
Goldring claimed she was acting in self-defence.
The victim, in her 20s, had to have an eye replacement after the attack in the Shankill in April last year.
Judge Gordon Kerr QC told Goldring she will serve four years in prison, followed by a further four years on licence.
