Three people have been arrested and suspected heroin with an estimated street value of £2,000 has been seized in east Belfast.
It follows the search of a property at Haig Street last night (Thursday).
Two men, aged 26 and 39, and a 39-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of drugs offences, including possession of a Class A controlled drug with intent to supply and possession of a Class A controlled drug.
Several items were seized and have been taken away for further examination. Those arrested remain in police custody.
Sergeant Corner from the Belfast District Support Team says the arrests and seizures demonstrate their commitment to policing the threat posed by drugs.
“Public safety is our first priority and we have removed dangerous drugs from the streets and prevented harm to people within our community.
“We are doing everything possible to proactively tackle the issue of illegal drugs.
“At the same time, we are working hard to make people aware of the real dangers posed to their health if they take illegal or controlled drugs. We would appeal to the public to speak to us on 101 if they have any concerns or information regarding drugs in their area,” he says.
