The pedestrian who died following a collision on the Springfield Road in west Belfast on Sunday night was 24-year-old Lucy McIlhatton who was from the area.
The collision involving a silver Toyota Avensis happened at around 9pm.
A 44 year old man who was arrested has been released on police bail pending further enquiries.
The Springfield Road was closed overnight but has since re-opened.
Inspector Philip McCullagh is appealing for information.
