Newlyweds the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will begin a two-day visit to Dublin later today.
This visit will be the couple’s first engagement outside the UK since their wedding back in May.
Prince Harry and Meghan are due to meet the Taoiseach and Irish President Michael D Higgins. They will also enjoy a summer party at the British Ambassador’s residence as well as a visit to Croke Park and the Book of Kells in its home, Trinity College.
The Palace tweeted that the newlyweds were “looking forward to learning more about Ireland’s history and experiencing its rich culture, as well as meeting the people who are shaping the country’s future.”
The couple will depart from Dublin on Wednesday afternoon and are due back home ahead of the World Cup semi-final match between England and Croatia.
This engagement follows Prince Charles and his wife Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall’s visit to Counties Cork and Kerry last month. In 2011, Queen Elizabeth became the first British Monarch to visit Ireland since her grandfather King George V’s visit in 1911.
Yesterday Prince Harry and Meghan attended the christening of their nephew, Prince Louis.
The couple joined Prince William and Kate Middleton for the ceremony at St James’s Palace in London, the venue where Meghan was baptized before her wedding.
With all eyes on fashion, Meghan wore an olive green Ralph Lauren dress and a matching hat created by Stephen Jones. She carried matching green gloves and a clutch bag.
