Police in Malaysia are using megaphones with recordings of Nora Quoirin’s mother’s voice in a bid to find the missing teenager.
The search for the Irish girl who has learning disabilities has been stepped up, according to the Malay Mail.
The 15-year-old has been missing since last weekend.
Meabh Quoirin’s voice is being played as teams scour the jungle area around the Dusun resort in a remote area outside Kuala Lumpur.
They say they hope to coax Nora out if she is hiding in fear.
Negri Sembilan Police Chief Datuk Mohamad Mat Yusof said some searchers are even using their phones to play the recording in the jungle.
“We’ve equipped each team with a hailer and they started using it this morning with the mum’s voice,” he said at a press conference.
The words heard by Nora’s mum are: “Nora darling, I love you… mum is here. Mum is here, Nora darling, my love.”
He also said Meabh sounds ‘persuasive’ – similar to how she usually talks to Nora.
Meanwhile, locals have said that security around the resort is ‘lax.’
