The remnants of an ATM machine was found in a burnt out Transit-type van in a field in the Crumlin area this morning (Saturday 23 March).
It’s believed the van was set on fire last night (Friday 22 March) around 10:30pm at Carnaghliss Road.
Detectives in Antrim are appealing for information following the incident.
Detective Sergeant Lyttle said police received a report shortly before 11:30am that a burnt out Transit-type van, containing what appears to be the remnants of an ATM machine, was discovered in a field in the Carnaghliss Road area.
NIFRS attended and have ruled this to be deliberate, said the Detective Sergeant. Police now want to find out where the machine and van were stolen from.
“Our enquiries are at an early stage, and we are working to establish where the vehicle and machine were stolen from.
“I am appealing to anyone who was in the Carnaghliss Road area last night – between 10pm and 10:35pm – and saw any suspicious activity to call us. Anyone with information they believe may assist our investigation is asked to phone detectives in Antrim on the non emergency number 101, quoting reference number 406 of 23/03/19,” added the Detective Sergeant.
Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.
