Security alert update: object was ‘hoax’

A suspicious object which sparked a security alert in the Springfield Avenue area of west Belfast has been declared a hoax.

The object has been taken away for further examination.


Springfield Avenue has now re-opened and residents who were evacuated have been allowed to return to their homes.

Inspector David McBride said he wanted to thank everyone in the area.
