Shots fired at house in Lurgan in ‘reckless attack’

Shots have been fired at a house in Lurgan, in what police are calling a ‘reckless attack.’

Windows were damaged in the incident at Ballynamoney Road, which was reported to police just before 1am this morning (Monday).

Three adults who were in the house at the time were shaken but not injured.

Inspector Duncan McBain said this was a reckless attack and, thankfully, while none of the occupants were physically injured, they were left badly shaken.

Police believe that a silver Volvo car that was set alight at Shankill Street in Lurgan a short time later may be connected to the shooting.

“Our enquiries are at an early stage and we are working to establish a motive for the attack, and I would appeal to anyone with information about this to call us,” he said.

“I want to appeal to anyone who was in either area and saw any suspicious activity to contact us on the non emergency number on 101, quoting reference 55 of 20/05/19.”

Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.
