A teaser trailer has been released for the BBC’s adaptation of Philip Pullman’s His Dark Materials.
The show is set to make its American debut on HBO. The cast includes X-Men‘s James McAvoy (Lord Asriel), The Affair‘s Ruth Wilson (Mrs Coulter) and Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda (Lee Scoresby). They are joined by The Wire‘s Clarke Peters (The Master) and Logan breakout Dafne Keen (Lyra).
Philip Pullman’s book trilogy consists of Northern Lights, The Subtle Knife and The Amber Spyglass. The series opens with Lyra, an orphan who lives in a parallel universe in which science, theology and magic are entwined.
“We wanted fans to have a tiny glimpse of His Dark Materials,” executive producer Jane Tranter said in a statement. “As with Lyra, there are many more worlds to discover as we start upon this epic journey.”
It will be coming soon to BBC One.
