The PSNI is investigating a second data breach.
Police said documents, a police issue laptop and a radio were believed to have been stolen from a car in Newtownabbey on July 6. One of the documents stolen was a spreadsheet with the names of 200 serving PSNI officers and staff. Those officers have been contacted. It comes after the details of about 10,000 officers and staff were published online. They were removed a few hours later.
The Police Service of Northern Ireland’s Senior Information Risk Owner, Assistant Chief Constable Chris Todd said the officers and staff have been contacted.
An initial notification has been made to the office of the Information Commissioner regarding the data breach.
“This is an issue we take extremely seriously and as our investigation continues we will keep the Northern Ireland Policing Board and the Information Commissioner’s Office updated,” he added.
