A suspicious object, found during a security alert in Manor Drive in Lurgan which led to residents being evacuated, has been declared an elaborate hoax.
The object was discovered just after 7:30am this morning (Monday 25 January).
Chief Inspector Barney O’Connor said PSNI officers and army technical officers attended and the object was taken away for further forensic examinations.
A number of residents who had been evacuated from their homes have been allowed to return.
“I would like to thank the local community and especially those directly impacted for their patience and understanding while police worked to make the area safe.

“Police are now working to establish the circumstances surrounding this incident and would appeal to anyone who witnessed anything suspicious in the area, to contact police quoting reference number 169 25/01/21.
