Ten arrests were made over the past three nights in the Newtownabbey and Antrim areas.
Five of these arrests were people suspected of driving under the influence of drink or drugs.
That figure, police say, does not include domestic incidents or assaults in which police were unable to locate the suspects.
Police are asking people to be mindful of the amount they drink.
“What these incidents have in common is that there was alcohol involved in each one. Worryingly we’ve made five arrests for persons driving under the influence of drink and/or drugs, showing a blatant disregard for other people.
“I’m by no means preaching abstinence. I’m a fan of the odd glass of wine or two, especially after a weekend like this. But the difference is that I don’t go out, get ‘wrote off’ and start rows/fights or try to drive my car,” said a police spokesperson.
“By all means, go out and enjoy time with your friends. We’re not the fun police, despite what people think. But if you know you can’t hold your drink, maybe it’s time to cut back or cut it out completely.
“From what I’ve witnessed, waking up in a cell with a hangover is no fun,” added the spokesperson.
