The victims of yesterday’s crash in Portglenone have been named locally as husband and wife, Paul and Varena Creelman, and Philip Hegarty, who was the brother of Mrs Creelman.
A silver Volkswagen Passat and a black Audi were involved in the collision on Lisnahunshin Road, which was reported at around 10:40am.
SDLP Kilrea-based councillor, Helena Dallat O’Driscoll, has expressed her heartfelt condolences following the tragic deaths.
“I was filled with sorrow when I learned of this terrible accident. The local community is likewise shocked and saddened. It is a very sad day for Kilrea. I wish to express my deepest sympathies to the Creelman and Hegarty families. I know that the people of Kilrea will rally around them at this awful time to provide every support that they may need,” she added.
