Three viable pipe bomb type devices were recovered during a security alert in the Dunsilly area of Antrim yesterday (Sunday, November 4).
The items have been taken away for further examination.
Detectives in Ballymena are appealing for information following the incident.
Detective Sergeant Coulter said the alert followed a report received by police at around 12:30pm of a suspicious object at Dunsilly Road.
“ATO examined the object and declared it to be three viable explosive devices which have been taken away for further examination.
“No homes were evacuated, however a section of the A26 in Antrim, between the Dunsilly roundabout and the Kilbegs Road roundabout, was closed to traffic for a time but has since reopened,” said the Detective Sergeant.
Police want to thank all those for their patience during the alert.
“Anyone with any information about this incident is asked to contact police on 101 quoting reference number 692 of 04/11/18,” added the Detective Sergeant.
