Greedy buyers are cashing in on the coronavirus spread by listing toilet rolls on auction sites for £1000 and over.
Shoppers have been panic-buying basic household necessities such as toilet roll, handwash and sanitisier, leaving shop shelves empty. Some are flogging them on ebay for inflated prices to people not lucky enough to get their hands on the commodities.
Twenty four people have been diagnosed with coronavirus in the Republic of Ireland, with 12 cases confirmed in Northern Ireland.
Social media is filled with pictures of empty shop shelves, and some supermarkets have begun restricting the sale of certain goods including pasta and tinned fruit.
The government has told people in the UK not to panic buy.’
Stockpiling was first seen in the Chinese city of Wuhan where the virus originated.
