Italian high end trainer brand Golden Goose is facing accusations of glorifying poverty with its expensive ‘Superstar Tape Sneaker’.
The pair of worn looking trainers designed to look like they have been taped up have caused massive outrage online.
The shoes are priced on American chain Nordstrom’s website for $530 – around £427.
On the website, the sneakers are described as: Crumply, hold-it-all-together tape details a distressed leather sneaker in a retro low profile with a signature sidewall star and a grungy rubber cupsole.
Many social media users believe the design is ‘distasteful’ and ‘offensive,’ not to mention ‘overpriced.’
Judging by the reactions, there is not exactly an overwhelming demand for them.
