Two arrested following police pursuit in Ballymena

Two men, aged 26 and 24, have been arrested following a police pursuit in Ballymena which left two PSNI officers injured.

The incident happened shortly after 11:30am at Springmount Road this morning (Sunday 26 April).

The PSNI says a grey Audi A4 car failed to stop for police which resulted in the vehicle being pursued by specially trained officers.

The police car was reportedly rammed a number of times before the vehicle made off from the scene. Two officers in the car sustained minor injuries as a result of the incident.

Sergeant Hughes said the car was found on fire in the Carrowcrin Road area of Armoy shortly before 11:45am.

Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service extinguished the fire.

Both men were arrested a short time later on suspicion of various driving offences and are both currently assisting police with their enquiries.

“We would appeal to anyone who witnessed the incident or who captured footage to contact police on 101, quoting reference 730 26/04/20,” added Sergeant Hughes.
