Two men armed with knives have made off with cash and cigarettes from a service station in Greenisland.
The armed robbery occurred at Upper Road at around 10.30pm last night (Sunday 28 April)
The men threatened staff, forcing them to open the till. The pair then jumped over the counter removing cash from the till and taking a quantity of cigarettes, according to police.
They then fled in a vehicle, believed to have been a blue Rover 25.
A Rover 25 was later found burnt out in the Townsend Street area of Belfast shortly before midnight. Police say it will now be subject to forensic examination.
One of the robbers is described as approximately 5ft 10” tall and of medium build. He was wearing a balaclava, a black coat with a grey hood, black trainers, and dark trousers with high vis stripes on each leg. The other man is also believed to be around 5ft 10” and of medium build. He was wearing an all black Adidas top with grey stripes, with the hood pulled up and white trainers.
“I am appealing to anyone with information to please get in touch with police by calling 101, quoting reference 1272 28/04/19,” added Detective Sergeant Robinson.
