A 27-year-old man is due in court on Monday following two stabbing incidents in Belfast City Centre in the early hours of Saturday (2 July).
A man sustained several stab wounds to his head and chest after police were flagged down on Bedford Street shortly after 1.15am, by a person reporting a fight ongoing in the area.
Inspector Donna McGrady said the man was taken to hospital.
It was then reported that the man with the knife made off in the direction of Amelia Street where he allegedly stabbed a second man.
The injured man received treatment from an ambulance crew for a wound to his upper chest.
The suspect has been charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and possession of an offensive weapon with intent to commit an indictable offence.
He is expected to appear before Belfast Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 4 July. As is usual procedure, all charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.
“The injuries of both men are not considered to be life threatening at this stage. We are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed anything, or has any information which could assist, to contact police on 101, quoting reference number 162 of 02/07/22,” added the Inspector.
