A rabbit has been found in Newcastle with a rocket attached to it.
And a £500 reward is being offered by the USPCA for information leading to a successful conviction following the discovery.
The remains of the rabbit were found in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
The Ulster Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is appealing to the public to contact the PSNI with information.
USPCA Chief Executive, Brendan Mullan, said this is a ‘horrific incident’.
He said people are appalled to see such barbaric abuse of our local wildlife.
“We cannot comprehend the motives of the individuals who carry out such brutal attacks against vulnerable animals like this.
“Unfortunately this is a stark reminder of the many challenges we are facing with regards to animal welfare in Northern Ireland. We are encouraging anyone with information that may assist the PSNI in their investigation to contact them on the 101 number,” added Brendan.
