The surface of a playpark in north Belfast has been badly damaged by youths.
Last night police officers were on patrol in the area for two hours, trying to prevent youths from Woodvale and Ardoyne attacking each other at the interface.
Police say the residents who live in the interface area were stuck in the middle of the trouble.
“So we had Officers from Court North and Oldpark NPTs out on patrol this evening.
“Unfortunately straight away they were tasked to Marrowbone Park where the young folk had badly damaged the surface of the playpark,” said a police spokesperson.
And the PSNI is appealing to young people to show respect to the community.
“Hopefully things have quietened down now, but the young folk need to show some respect for the local community, and indeed themselves. One male youth will be reported to the youth officer,” added the spokesperson.
