VE Day celebrations have moved online due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
A number of commemorative events had been planned to take place in Belfast to mark the occasion, including an afternoon tea for veterans at the City Hall.
However due to the lockdown, people are now celebrating from the comfort of their homes.
The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall will lead a two-minute silence at 11am to honour servicemen and women during World War Two.
Later, people across Northern Ireland are expected to sing together the Vera Lynn classic We’ll Meet Again. This will be followed by an address by the Queen at 9pm.
Victory in Europe Day marks the day in 1945 when the then-prime minister Sir Winston Churchill announced that the war in Europe had ended, after Nazi Germany unconditionally surrendered.
In a message, Prime Minister Boris Johnson referred to the COVID-19 outbreak, saying it “demands the same spirit of national endeavour” as shown during the war.
“We can’t hold the parades and street celebrations we enjoyed in the past, but all of us who were born since 1945 are acutely conscious that we owe everything we most value to the generation who won the Second World War,” he said.
