Over 70 dentists from practices throughout Northern Ireland have volunteered to work in care homes during the on-going COVID-19 pandemic.
The volunteers will be working with home staff, supporting them as they care for residents in the sector which has been the worst affected.
It comes as 14 residents from Glenabbey Manor in Carnmoney, Co Antrim passed away with the novel coronavirus symptoms.
The NI health minister Robin Swann said care homes were now at the fore of the fight against the coronavirus.
The volunteer dentists will be showing staff how to use their personal protective equipment.
The British Dental Association (BDA) meanwhile said DIY dentistry was ‘inevitable’ given the current lockdown and the inability of dentists to carry out procedures, due to restrictions.
