WARNING: don’t click on suspicious Netflix phishing email

If you’re settling down to watch Netflix, and you’ve received a suspicious looking email purporting to be from the company, then it’s likely to be a scam.

The subscription streaming service is warning its users not to fall victim to a current phishing email.

Following similar scams in September and October 2017, the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has issued a warning after the email began targeting Netflix users.

In a blog post the FTC warned subscribers that scammers can use fake emails to steal your personal information, such as bank account numbers and passwords.

According to Netflix’s security site, the company will never ask for ‘any personal information to be sent to us over email.’

You should also check for signs that the email is bogus, such as poor grammar and spelling, as well as lack of personalisation.
