Police are urging people in the Ballyarnett area of Londonderry not to touch any suspicious objects.
They are warning people in the Racecourse Road/Paddock Lane area of Derry.
It follows a report to police that a device has been left in the area.
Officers are currently making a number of enquiries into the report and would urge anyone who sees anything suspicious or out of the ordinary in the area contact police in Derry by calling 101.
