A man escaped with a sum of money in a robbery at an off licence in west Belfast yesterday afternoon (Friday 1 November).
The man entered the premises on Suffolk Road around 1pm and, as he was making a purchase, he jumped over the counter and grabbed a sum of money from the till. No one was injured in the incident.
He then forced his way out through the front door, and ran off down Suffolk Road with the cash.
Detectives are investigating the robbery and are appealing for witnesses.
The suspect is described as being of a skinny build, possibly aged in his late 20s, with short dark hair. He is reported to have worn a navy tracksuit top with the hood pulled up, navy bottoms with a black or navy baseball cap and light grey and white trainers.
“This was a frightening ordeal for the staff member who was in his place of work where he was simply doing his job. Thankfully, he didn’t suffer any physical injuries,” said Detective Sergeant O’Flaherty.
“I want to appeal to anyone who was in the area and saw what occurred, or anyone who believes they may have seen a man matching the description of the suspect, to contact detectives at Musgrave by calling 101 and quoting reference number 1149 of 01/11/19,” he added.
