West Belfast security alert declared elaborate hoax – police appeal for information

Police are appealing for information following yesterday’s security alert in the Glenalina Gardens area of west Belfast.

The object was removed and was declared an elaborate hoax.

Inspector Murphy thanked the community for their patience and understanding during the course of this policing operation.

And the inspector is appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

“I want to appeal to anyone who can assist us with our enquiries into this incident to contact police on 101, quoting reference number 233 of 22/07/19,” added the inspector.

Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.

Call the PSNI on 101.
