In Armagh, the Planetarium’s Minecraft workshop returns. Run in conjunction with STEM Aware, children taking part in this workshop will have the chance to explore the moon using Minecraft. Each child will have their own laptop gaming station and will be set team challenges in these workshops. This event takes place from Thursday to Saturday (11 to 13 July).

For lovers of all things boating, the Belleek Regatta takes place on Sunday (July 14). Competitors will race a wooden boat the ‘Lough Erne Cot’. The races form part of the league of regattas taking place this summer with the winning teams competing in the final in Enniskillen on September 15.

The John Hewitt Summer School takes place from Monday 22 to Saturday 27 July. The aim of the event is to explore political and cultural issues through literature and the arts. There is a full programme of events.
On Monday, July 22, Sarah Moss who is one of the UK’s best contemporary novelists will be in conversation at The Marketplace Theatre in Armagh. Her novel Ghost Wall was chosen as a Book of the Year by the Guardian, The Sunday Times, and Financial Times. She is the author of five other critically acclaimed novels and a memoir of her year living in Iceland, Names for the Sea, shortlisted for the RSL Ondaatje Prize. Sarah will be in conversation with Co Armagh-born author of The Countenance Divine and Country, Michael Hughes.
India: Faces and Scenes by Malachi O’Doherty also takes place on Monday, July 22 at 10am
At The Market Place Theatre. Malachi returned to India in 2018, his first trip back after spending four years there in the 1970s. He travelled round the north of India with a camera, stopping to talk to people, snapping images of strangers. Malachi O’Doherty is a writer, broadcaster and photographer living in Belfast.

Looking ahead, Murder Trial Live, is set to be a fun evening this October at the Hilton in Templepatrick. For the first time in history this is a murder trial on tour, and following an evening meal you will become the jury and the decision, quite literally will be yours. Working with a team of criminal barristers the accurate murder trial will unravel before your eyes. Before the court room drama unfolds you’ll enjoy a two course meal with your fellow jurors. When dinner is finished defendant Mr Frank Lane will be called to the stand and the prosecution and defence barristers will lead you through the evidence. Frank Lane is currently in police custody awaiting trial, charged with the murder of his wife Alison Lane. Alison’s body has never been found. Mr and Mrs Lane were married for 20 years and Mr Lane owned several businesses. Alison went missing in March 2017 had has never been heard of since.
For the first time ever outside of the legal system you will experience the theatre and debate of the UK justice system. The team of criminal barristers will lay out the evidence. You will experience the presence of a convicted murder as well as analyse the evidence put before you. As a jury you’ll retire to debate and decide the evidence put before you before reaching a decision.
