Sometimes when we register for a conference or order a name plaque, the name specified isn’t necessarily the name you’ll subsequently be known as.
Take this for example:
Got a colleague who said "Mike'll do" when asked what he wanted on his tool tags. Two years later they still say Michaeldo.

I had a name plate made for my door at work. It read 'for Howard Kemp'

Sometimes you just have to spell it out:
Rather than spell my last name, I said "Ground, like dirt" . The engraved invitation – from Rideau Hall, no less – arrived: "Derek Groundlikedirt" .
