A woman was left shaken after the window of a house was smashed with a stone in what police are treating as a racially motivated hate crime in north Belfast.
Police are appealing for information following the incident which happened in the Westland Way area on Monday night (April 20) just before 11:30pm.
Inspector Paul Noble said the female occupant of the house had heard the sound of glass smashing.
“The occupant discovered that a window at the property had been smashed with a stone.
“This must have been a frightening experience which has, understandably, left the victim shaken,” he said.
He said people have a right to live in peace without being subjected to this type of reckless activity.
“We know that incidents such as this can have a huge impact, not just on victims but the whole community.
“Enquiries are continuing and at this stage, we are treating this incident as a racially motivated hate crime,” he added.
And police are appealing for information.
“We would appeal to anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or saw anything suspicious in the area around that time to contact us on 101 quoting reference number 2207 of 20/04/20,” added Inspector Paul Noble.
