A woman was attacked by teenagers who knocked her to the ground, kicked her in the back and stole her handbag and a watch on the Lagan Towpath yesterday afternoon (Monday).
The incident happened at the Hilden area of the towpath and police in Lisburn are appealing for information following the robbery.
It happened at around 4:30pm.
Sergeant James McKelvey said the woman in her 30s was walking along the towpath when she was attacked by two men on bicycles.
“The males knocked the woman to the ground and kicked her in the back. The males, aged in their teens and wearing tracksuits, took her handbag and a watch from her during the incident. The males made off towards the direction of Hilden and left the woman badly shaken,” he said.
The handbag was recovered in a car park in the area a short time later.
Police are asking anyone who can help to come forward.
“Our enquiries are continuing and we would appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident and saw anything suspicious to contact police on 101, quoting reference number 1702 20/04/20. Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime,” added Sergeant James McKelvey.
