Yellow warning as winds pick up and sailings are cancelled

A severe wind warning has been issued for the UK and Ireland as Storm Brendan closes in.

The Met Office has put out yellow warnings for today and tomorrow (Monday and Tuesday), with gales of up to 80mph expected for much of the UK.


Met Eireann has also issues an orange wind warning for the Republic of Ireland, predicting a significant risk of flooding in coastal areas until this evening.

Here, the Met Office has warned that travel disruption is likely and coastal areas could be affected by large waves.

Ferry operator P&O said its 10:30am departures on Monday from Larne and Cairnryan had been cancelled due to the weather.
