Young people have been congregating in a dangerous, derelict building, starting fires in businesses and drinking at the reservoir at Mallusk.
The anti-social behaviour has been occurring in the Hydepark area of Mallusk over the past few weekends.
Police say reservoirs may look inviting but they can be dangerous especially when alcohol is involved.
And police are asking parents to be aware of what their children are doing.
“If you partake in such activities, not only would you potentially be committing a criminal offence, but you may also be foolishly placing yourself in unnecessary danger,” said the police spokesperson.
Police say dangers of hanging around near a reservoir include cold water shock, localised currents, deep water, debris, mud and silt, slippery banks, isolation and of course no lifeguards.
“Parents, when your child tells you that they are just ‘out and about’, please know exactly where they are and what they are doing. Our patrols will continue throughout the day and night to keep you safe,” added the spokesperson.
Last week, vandals damaged a church in Ballyclare – another spot for anti-social behaviour.
Damage was caused to a wall at the rear of Ballyclare Free Presbyterian.
A spokesperson for the church said the rear of the building on the Doagh Road is now one of the most recent hangout locations.
A fire was lit and a gas canister was place in the middle of it – however it was removed by street pastors.
