Young people lit a fire on a main road and hurled stones and other missiles at police and motorists.
The incidents occurred last night on North Queen Street around the New Lodge in north Belfast.
And the police message to parents is – do you know where your children are?
A police spokesperson said patrols were in that area last night working with the community and colleagues in the NI Fire and Rescue Service to put out the fire and to let the residents of that area ‘enjoy their Saturday night in peace and quiet.’
“We have evidence gathering capability in the area so those that are identified causing trouble can expect to be dealt with robustly.
“Think about how a criminal conviction may affect your future prospects.
It needs to stop – now,” added the spokesperson.
